SECTION 01

WHAT IS PARATRIKE?

The Freedom of Powered Flight

Paratrike (also called "trike paramotor" or "powered hang glider") combines the simplicity of paragliding with the reliability of a three-wheeled aircraft. Unlike foot-launched paramotors, you fly seated in a comfortable trike with an engine mounted behind you.

How it works:

The Paratrike Experience

"It's like having a motorcycle that can fly. The moment the wheels leave the ground and you realize YOU are controlling this aircraft — it's pure freedom." — Ricardo Maciel, APPI Master Instructor
SECTION 02

IS PARATRIKE SAFE?

Safety by Design

Modern paratrikes incorporate multiple safety features:

Actual Risks (Manageable Through Training)

Safety Statistics

With proper APPI-certified training:

The #1 safety factor is YOU. A well-trained pilot who respects weather limitations and follows procedures is incredibly safe.

SECTION 13

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is paratrike the same as paramotor?

Similar, but paratrike uses a wheeled trike instead of foot-launch. Safer, more comfortable, and easier for beginners.

Can I fly after completing just Course 1?

Course 1 (Open Sky + Adventure) gives you Adventure Pilot rating, allowing solo flight in calm conditions. Full independence requires Course 2 (APPI Pilot).

What if I fail an assessment?

You repeat until ready — no extra cost for additional training days due to skill development. Everyone progresses at their own pace.

Do I need to speak English?

Basic English is helpful (aviation standard), but we teach in English, Portuguese, and Spanish. Theory materials available in multiple languages.

Can I bring my own equipment?

For training, we require school equipment (insurance/standardization). After certification, you can fly your own gear.

Is there an exam?

Yes — multiple choice theory exam (70% pass). We prepare you thoroughly; 95% of students pass first time.

What if I don't finish in 12 days?

Weather delays are common — we schedule extra days at no cost. Skill-based delays may require additional days (rare).

Can I fly passengers?

Not with standard pilot license. Tandem pilot certification requires additional training (50+ hours, separate course).

How do I transport a paratrike?

Fits in a car with roof rack or small trailer. Wings fit in a backpack. No trailer license needed for most setups.

Is there a weight limit?

120kg maximum for standard equipment. Heavier pilots need larger wings (available).
