The story behind Portugal's premier ParaTrike training school
Flying has been my life for over 20 years. What started as a passion in Brazil turned into a career that has taken me across three continents — training pilots, leading expeditions, and pushing the boundaries of what's possible in powered paragliding.
I hold the APPI Power Master Instructor certification — the highest level in the international APPI system. It's not just a title; it represents thousands of hours in the air, over 1,000 students trained, and a deep commitment to safety-first, structured instruction.
From the Amazon rainforest to the deserts of the UAE, from the coasts of Europe to the skies of Asia — I've organised and led large-scale international flying expeditions that have taken pilots to some of the most extraordinary places on Earth.
Now, I've chosen Murtosa, Portugal as my training base — and there's a very good reason for that.
The highest certification level in the APPI system — qualified to train instructors, examiners, and tandem pilots worldwide.
Led large-scale flying expeditions across the Amazon, UAE, Europe, and Asia — real-world experience that enriches every lesson.
Certified as both Paramotor and ParaTrike Master Instructor and Tandem — one of very few in the world with this dual qualification.
FlyParatrike is the only school in Portugal with an APPI Power Master Instructor — the highest standard of training available.
Maximum 4 students per training block. Every student gets direct, personalised instruction from Ricardo himself.
Safety-first methodology with a flawless safety record across 1,000+ students and 20+ years of instruction.
There's a reason I chose Murtosa as the home of FlyParatrike. Nestled on the edge of the Ria de Aveiro lagoon, it offers some of the best training conditions in Europe.
The lagoon provides vast, flat open spaces — perfect for safe take-offs, landings, and ground handling practice.
Reliable, predictable wind patterns make for excellent flying conditions throughout the training season.
Portugal's Atlantic coast enjoys long days of sunshine and mild temperatures — ideal flying weather from spring through autumn.
Fly over the lagoon, salt flats, and the Portuguese coastline — a beautiful backdrop for your training.
